In this non-stop adrenaline surge of action, anger and fear, the first floating aquarium is the scene of unprecedented carnage.

Maxwell Baxter is intent on fulfilling his greatest ambition yet. In the midst of international financial negotiations to raise money to complete his ARC with the Governor of California being entertained on his private yacht, the Megalodon terrorises everything in the Pacific, no matter what their size.

The world is watching them fail at their quest, but swimming with sharks has never been more perilous or drenched in suspense.

Wow, well where to start.
This is a fast paced, multi POV read. Action abounds on every page, as the mighty megalodon searches the waters for its prey, and once its had a taste, its hungry for human flesh.
And unfortunately there's plenty of it.
Scary and chilling doesn't seem to cut it, I was literally squirming and gritting my teeth through some of these scenes, and wishing I could leap in the book and drag those poor souls, and poor whales to safety.
This has blockbuster written all over it, I couldn't help thinking, I want to see this on the big screen. It would make a mighty mega movie. Blow Jaws out of the water and eat him for breakfast!!!
The ARC itself would be impressive enough, along with a huge cast of memorable characters, all of whom, have their own vested interest in the shark and the arc.
The writer has done a supurb job of describing every detail, to the diving gear, to the boats, to the arc, so I got a very clear picture in my head even though I have no familiarity with anything aquatic. And the scenes from the shark's POV were fabulous.
Then the ending, well that just screams:SEQUEL!!!!, let's hope so.
Great read.

Sharc edition by Paul Rudd Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

I bought this book and have nor regretted it - Have read it twice already. Involves a man-made island in the pacific where the chief attract is an 'extinct' huge shark which escapes, wreeks horry, then return to destroy the island with the heros trying to destroy it first. Good buy.
I know it's just my opinion but I really love this book and I haven't even finished it. I love any book/story dealing with sharks that I have read. The only reason that I don't give this five stars is because, to me at least, is that it's too similar to MEG by Steve Alten. I still recommend it to any that is a fan of shark stories, though.
This novel reminds me mostly of the SyFy Saturday night movies. There's an evil corporation/capitalist and a big monster. The action keeps on rolling, too.

However, there are times when reality just jumps up and breaks the illusion.

First, the shark spends its time off of the western coast of the United States and Hawaii. Back and forth it swims, in an amazingly short period of time. Sharks cruise at 5 mph, but attack at 12 mph. The fastest one can get up to 31 mph. Even if you double the speed, there's no way that the shark can bounce back and forth between Hawaii and California.

Second, when there's an accident with a submersible, breaching the hull is described as letting the pressure "out". Basic physics the pressure increases as you go deeper underwater. The issue isn't letting pressure out, but keeping pressure out. (Now, it might have been different if they were talking about keeping the atmosphere in, but assuming a hull significant hull leakage at the depth in the book, the passangers would get crushed long before they drowned.)

There are other issues with the book, but this is enough for now. While the book is listed as science fiction, I wouldn't read it if you were looking for science fiction. It's a SyFy level monster book, and that's not a bad thing.
Second half to the the first book. Another great book that ties everything together. Suspense and I told you so's go hand in hand with this book.
I really enjoyed this story and cant wait to get book 2 ! It kept me turning the pages , the story line was great and I could see the Arc easily !
It must be shark month, Meg Origins the prequel to Meg A novel of deep Terror and now Sharc both about Jaws prehistoric cousin the Carcharodon Megalodon! To put this in perspective, Great whites seem to be at most 30 feet long while the Meg (Carcharodon Megalodon) reaches a conservative 75 to 100 foot range. Although the Meg depicted in this story is about 45 feet in length juvenile male. It's as Quint would say a-smart fish and not like chasing Tommy Cod in the pond. This particular Meg spent it's formative years ( 20 ft to 45 ft) in captivity, hidden away in an abandoned base by a billionaire with plans to build a floating city with sea creatures as the exhibits ( Sort of a Theme Park). Any way on to the future, The Meg is installed in it's new home off the coast of the Hawaiian islands and almost immediately escapes into the wild. As the Meg has not been announced to the world , everyone one is caught shortb when this unknown Apex Predator spreads havoc and terror. No one is safe, pleasure boaters, commercial fisherman, Illegal Japanese Whalers , the BBC not even the scientist and adventurers sent to recapture it.

I know it sounds like it's been done before and of course in many ways it has. But that aside it's fairly well written with a large cast of characters and interesting and believable Tech through out. I enjoyed the story, as well if not better than some of those stories eluded to. It's worth a read after all it must be shark month!
What an interesting book this turned out to be. I have been fascinated by the book and movie Jaws and I was hoping this book would keep my interest as well. Needless to say that this book just knocked my socks off.

All of us familiar with the Jaws movie could imagine a 25 foot shark but nothing as big as this prehistoric 45 foot shark. The idea that this shark could identify it's intended target was spooky and left me wondering when and if the shark would get it's wish.

Find out for yourself by reading this book for yourself. Believe me when I say you won't want to stop reading.
